Memorial Day Parade 2010
Thank you to everyone who helped make the Memorial Day Parade a success, marchers and spectators alike!
Below are some pictures of the parade. This collection of photos is necessarily limited - I took them as a participant, and had little time to compose shots. But hopefully this group of images will serve to give an idea of the day.
Discussing plans for the day

Here we see Chief Girardi of the Fire Company in discussion with Company members as they make last minute adjustments to keep things running smoothly.
Directing traffic

Here we see F. Brainerd McGuire lining up people and vehicles prior to the start of the parade. Brainerd has been with the local American Legion post for 39 years, and the Easton fire Company for longer than that!

The Mack made it!

After hundreds of volunteer man-hours, the Company's 1947 Mack, a restoration project in progress, made it to the firehouse for Memorial Day. Unfortunately, last minute technical issues prevented it from running in the parade. Those problems will be corrected shortly. Easton's half century old fire engine should be on the road for future events.

Readying the colors

The Fire Company has marched to Town Hall and is readying the flag for ceremonies to come.

Fire Company Officers on Honor Guard

Each year, after the parade, local veterans (the American Legion) visit Easton cemeteries and lay wreaths on the graves of veterans. This happens after a brief ceremony that includes a prayer and a rifle salute. Officers of the Fire Company traditionally accompany that group as part of the honor guard. In this picture, from left to right, we see:
1st Assistant Chief Stephen Waugh, Chief James Girardi, and 2nd Assistant Chief Gianmarco Marchetti.
